I know you probably weren’t expecting to see photos of a backhoe when you clicked over here this morning, but I’ve decided to share a little more about my personal life on this blog – mainly so those of you who don’t know me in real life yet can get a little glimpse into who I am and how I tick.
Right now, my life revolves around Lincoln and all his little boy obsessions. Anyone who wonders where gender differences come from probably never had children. His love of tractors, trucks, cars, dirt, basketball, football, baseball – such boy things! – came from somewhere deep within, because I’m a girly girl, and he hangs out with me all day long. He probably got his love of sports from his dad, but neither of his parents gets very excited over heavy machinery!
At my parents’ house recently, my dad hired someone to dig up a portion of the yard with a backhoe. Lincoln was glued to the scene, and eventually, we gave in and got out the camp chairs! My brother and my sister-in-law very graciously watched with us for a while.
The great thing about photography is the ability to freeze a moment in time, and go back to that moment whenever you want. At Skip’s Summer School, Dane Sanders put it this way: (this is a loose quote) As photographers, we squeeze your life at this moment into an 11x14, so you can relive it whenever you see it again.
When I see these images, I will instantly be taken back in time, and I’ll hear that little voice saying “Tak-ter!” I’ll remember kissing those soft cheeks, and I’ll remember how he ran around without pants all the time. I’ll remember the little tractor that he hijacked from Grandma and Grandpa’s house, and how it became “Yink-in’s tak-ter.”
Oh, gosh, I’m tearing up a little, and the next time you come to my house, you’ll probably see a huge gallery wrap on the wall featuring Lincoln and his tractors! Sheesh!
I just love that we have the ability to freeze time like this. It’s truly a miraculous thing.

I'm loving all the different perspectives. Great pictures.
I love that way of looking at photography. Freezing time-- sometimes I think life needs a pause button. The moments just go by too fast!
